"German for University Studies" Online Prep Course

The International Center of the University Kiel and the Department Deutsch als Fremdsprache of The Zentrum für Schlüsselqualifikationen organize an online-German course for study preparations. It is primarly for exchange students and students who take part in Master programs held in English. Other target audiences are foreign postgraduates, if course seats are still avaiable.

The course takes place directly before the semester start and makes it possible to have an early introduction to the German language. The course is running over four weeks from Monday to Thursday in the mornings during the time period of September, 28th to October, 22nd 2020. After a successful completion of the course, five ECTS can be earned.

The language levels A1, A2, and B1 will be offered, in which the participants will be grouped after a placement test. Absolute beginners of the German language will automatically be placed into A1.

The courses will be taught with the textbook Spektrum of the Schubert Verlag.

The courses will consist of a combination of videoconferences via Zoom or BigBlueButton and phases of self-study via the internal learning platform of the university.

The German courses covers 18 hours per week including 2 hours of regional studies and study techniques in the module ''Einblicke in Leben und Studium in Kiel'' (Insights into Life and Studies in Kiel).

If the circumstances (Corona-Pandemic; possibility of attendance of the participants in Kiel) allow it, it could be planned to teach in class for a few course hours from the third week of courses.

A fee has to be paid. The deadline for registration is August 31st, 2020.
