The European University of the Seas (SEA-EU)

Kiel University (CAU) is a partner of the "European University of the Seas" alliance (SEA-EU), which is one of the 41 European Universities alliances co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Under the leadership of the University of Cádiz (Spain), and together with the partner universities of Western Brittany (Brest, France), Gdańsk (Poland), Split (Croatia) and Malta, Kiel University plans to enhance the quality of education across all faculties and at all six locations. SEA-EU aims to strengthen links between education, research and innovation, as well as to foster social engagement and environmental responsibility.

This ambitious initiative echoes the vision of European Commission to 'dare to dream'.

The Department of German as a Foreign Language in the Center for Key Skills is actively involved in the SEA-EU initiative. Svenja Schilling is Kiel University's representative for fostering multilingual competence, one focus of SEA-EU which is addressed in the organisational committee 'Indentity' (Identity Subcommittee). Stina Grill supports the Initiative as student assistant. They both contributed, among other things, to a tandem language learning programme and intensive online language courses in the languages native to the six universities of the alliance for students and staff at Kiel University.
